The Enoree landfill is a municipal solid waste landfill owned and operated by the Greenville County. The Greenville County Landfill Gas Utilization Project is being implemented in two phases. The first phase consists of capturing methane from the landfill and flaring this thereby reducing the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. The second phase of the project will use this gas for electricity generation reducing the need for electricity from fossil fueled power sources in the local region.
