Largest Emissions Brokerage Firm Now Offering Green-e Certified Tradable Renewable Certificates to Wholesale Market

San Francisco, CA (April 03, 2003): The Green-e Program of the Center for Resource Solutions announced today that Evolution Markets LLC has been approved to transact Green-eŽ certified Tradable Renewable Certificates (TRCs). Evolution Markets is the first broker to obtain approval to source and package TRCs for Green-e certification. The agreement will enable Evolution Markets to offer certified renewable certificate products to the wholesale market on a regional and national basis.

Eligible generators who transact through Evolution Markets will be able to sell their renewable certificates in the market for Green-e products, thereby enhancing the value of the certificates and expanding the markets available to them.

"This is a new way for green power marketers and wholesale buyers to source their TRCs with the convenience of the Green-e logo and quality assurance built in," said Gabe Petlin, Green-e Program Manager. "Evolution Markets is offering a valuable service to both renewable generators and marketers of Green-e certified products."

Since 1997, Green-e has been a nationally recognized voluntary certification and verification program helping consumers identify superior renewable energy products sold in competitive retail electricity markets, regulated markets, and nationwide through Tradable Renewable Certificates (TRCs). To earn Green-e certification, TRC products must originate from 100% new renewable facilities that generate energy from the sun, the wind, the heat of the Earth, low-impact hydropower, biogas, or biofuels. Providers of certified products undergo an annual verification process audit to document that the company purchased the quantity and type of renewable certificates needed to meet customer demand and consistent with marketing claims.

"We are very pleased to be the first broker to serve the wholesale market with Green-e certified TRCs," said Andrew Ertel, president and CEO of Evolution Markets. "The markets for renewables have shown tremendous growth, but some would-be market participants still encounter barriers. As brokers, our role is to facilitate transactions and improve liquidity. Evolution Markets' ability to offer Green-e certified TRCs from a variety of eligible generation sources to customers nationwide is an important step for the development of renewable energy markets."
